Oct 9th The Royal Palace and a Stolen Iphone
We started the day going to the Sunday Markets. It is huge with as many people as woulde be expected for 3500 stalls. This was not really either a flea market or farmers market, but hundreds of stalls of stuff. Lots of clothes, trinkets, souvieners . I took lots of pictures - more about that later
The Royal Palace of Madrid is the official residence of the Spanish Royal Family. The king has just turned the monarchy over to his son and we only got to see part of this building designed much like a small Verselles.
The Royal Family is quite young. King Filipe is very popular and Queen Letizia is as beloved by the Spanish citizens as Princess Diana or Michelle Obama. Quite a beautiful family.
Fred and I just finished this lovely event and sat down to have a little lunch. We were in the market prior to the palace and had been warned about pick pockets. We were on the alert and we're happy to sit in an area that looked less likely, I was waiting for a photo to load to the family, and had it on the table. No pickpocket .,, just a plane old divert your attention, grab and run. We were within four blocks of the largest apple store in Spain, so it did not take long to shut it down.
